"Ink" was a love letter to my girlfriend during a particularly trying time in our relationship. Tori was finishing her Psychology degree in Austin, TX and I was selling beer in Astoria, NY and neither of us had ever experienced a long distance thing before. I think what made it so tough is that we both knew we were meant to be together so the time apart felt unnatural and unbearable, and we both coped with those feelings differently. Sonically, I wanted something simple and bouncy with an anthemic chorus. I felt the need to lighten the mood lyrically to match the vibe of the song so I injected some humor in the lyrics. The alarm clock/build felt like a perfect way to kick off the EP."

a quarter passed ten
oh my it looks like I just lost the time again
and where are you now?
oh the distance is an ocean I've had dreams about

the only one that I've been thinking' of
the only one that I've been thinking of
are your legs tired from running through my mind

I'm reading your news
oh I can stay up to date with all involving you
my fingers turn black
from all the ink and dirty strings I'm using to distract

out of sight and out of mind
I've heard it said but I refuse to give in
so I set aside a bit of time
