about

When you’re at the end of a road, whether the curtains are closing on a relationship, a job, or any project that you’ve invested time, energy and love into, this song is a companion piece for that time of pure sadness and reflection. I didn’t want the song to wallow in the sadness though, I just wanted to give the listener enough time to be “in it”, before hopefully lifting them out by the end, giving them some hope that things will get better. This was the last tune I wrote before we went into the studio and it took totally blossomed into something we all got super sucked into, mainly because of Peter Katis’ work with the guitars and what we refer to as the “bells” which are a cool combo of Piano, Celeste, and Vibraphone.

lyrics

Laying on the sidewalk staring at the fireworks lighting up your eyes
Reaching out for your hands you pull em close to your chest and turn your head by way
Hold my breath but I don’t know why
Chase that dream but I don’t know why
Kicking myself but I don’t know why

When it feels like I’m losing in the bottom of the ninth
Yeah it feels like I’m losing in the bottom of the ninth

Pace around in headspace, think about the old days of nothing getting done
Memory is a strange thing, a sudden bolt of lightening surfacing your pain
Bottle it up but I don’t know why
Laugh so hard but I don’t know why
Chasin’ that dream but I don’t know why

When it feels like I’m losing in the bottom of the ninth
Yeah it feels like I’m losing in the bottom of the ninth

When the morning light hits coffee steam as your search for meaning in your dreams you can turn this wrong into something right
Alone in a room with a brush or two and a canvas that keeps calling you, you can turn this dark into something light
You can turn this dark into something light, into something light
You can turn this dark into something light, into something light
